Perhaps due to my stubborn nature, I had not planned I would eventually depend on well-constructed human hair wigs for feminine mystique. On bad wig days, I think fondly of my mother adjusting her unforgettable Princess Leah hair style, which resembled a stack of wigs, on the way to school. The company has issued a statement that though financials have been affected by the recession, the company’s ongoing realignment of assets will allow them to take advantage of what is looking like an upswing in the market trend in recent weeks.
Compared to a profit of 22.4 million euros or 19 cents a share for the second quarter last year, the current year’s figures show a loss of 62.9 million euros or a whopping 49 cents a share. This is the equivalent of $89 million.
With its headquarters in Germany, the company has real estate interests in most of the European cities, including London (click for desk space London), where it co-owns the Gherkin Tower. With the recent events causing a tightening of credit lines, the company has been trying to secure around 300 million euros in government loan guarantees to stay afloat. In March earlier in the year, the company extended around 1.3 billion euros in credit lines to 2012 and cancelled its dividend after losing nearly 453 million euros last year.
IVG has been focused on cutting costs after the reduction in revenues from office rental projects and facing a drop in earnings after the sale of its storage caverns last year. It is also facing a 99.5 million euro loss on the Airrail office project. However, the last six months have been a slow turnaround for IVG, which saw its valuation climb steadily to 700 million euros.
